DEL TORO: 'MY PINOCCHIO' WILL BE EDGY'

Guillermo del Toro has revealed that his upcoming version of Pinocchio will be a darker, edgier version of the fairy-tale.

The Hellboy director will be working on the stop-motion picture with Pathe and the Jim Henson Company.

Speaking about the project, Del Toro said that despite sticking more closely to the original story by Carlo Collodi, the film will still be suitable for children like its previous version by
Disney.

He told Deadline: "There has to be a darkness in any fairy tale or children's narrative work, something the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and Walt Disney understood."

Musician Nick Cave is working on the score to feature which is expected to arrive in cinemas by late 2012.
